Staff Friendliness
The VELPers were greeted immediately, though it felt like a general welcome rather than a personalized one. Despite that, the fast greeting told us to find a seat and was delivered by a mammet, I THINK, and it was quite neat! Server service was quick upon us taking seats, and we were given menus through a non-directional 'you' emote. Staff did not appear to use tags to set themselves apart from guests, and we didn't see any uniforms. Two people did have PF tags, but we're not sure if that tells us they're staff, and if that was all staff.
Service
Service was quick and we really enjoyed the use of magic to prepare the food. It was cute, well-emoted, and explained why staff were back so fast with the food. Keep in mind that this appears to be a real-gil venue -- it's not clearly explained at any time, but the costs are reasonable and my pay was accepted without any comment.
Atmosphere
We love tiny venues. The designer here used the small apartment space awesomely, and the colouring and decor created a little faerie grove. It was all thematic and bright. There was some issues moving around the tables to get to the couches at the back of the booth that required us to hop over the tables, but we just hand-waved it. Music by the bard was anime - I recognized Sailor Moon but my companions recognized other Anime tunes. Oh - as I write this, we're Under the Sea, so Disney seems to feature too.
Role-Play
The roleplay here was casual. This isn't a slap - in fact, the casual atmosphere would make this an awesome place for shy or new roleplayers to get their feet wet. OOC was worked into conversation casually, but it still felt like character conversation, if that makes sense. Some people followed the 'rules' of immersive roleplay more than others, but were mirrored by staff. So if you were new and were afraid of being judged on your ability, I don't think this would happen here.
Realistically, FFXIV roleplayers know Crystal (and Dynamis to an extent) are where the immersive, full-time roleplayers congregate. The rules of roleplay tend to be a bit inflexible or intense on that server, and someone expecting that level of roleplay is unlikely to find it on Aether. This venue is a stellar example of the casual roleplay that thrives off Crystal, though, and is a reminder to the immersive roleplayer that their way isn't the only way roleplay can be fun. Editor's Note: We are not removing the above italicized statement but we wish to clarify that upon receiving feedback and re-reading the statement, we do believe it was overly harsh and did not accurately reflect our opinion. While some immersive venues can be very unwelcoming to people who do not understand the intricate and often unwritten rules of immersive roleplay, we strongly believe this is the exception rather than the norm. And while these rules can be inflexible, the people in venues are a lot more flexible than the rules, if that makes sense. We apologize to our immersive venue audience, as we most definitely stuck our foot in our mouth.
Out-of-Game Elements
The venue has a website that's provided quickly. The information is clearly laid out. However, the colours - especially the pink text on the teal background - was really hard to read. The rest of the website was easy enough to read though someone who has difficulty with colours may struggle.
Adult tag
This is a SFW venue.
Pros
Great casual roleplay and friendly demeanor of staff.
Cons
I can't tell WHO is staff due to the lack of tags, and some parts of the website are hard to read. Reviewer Thoughts Being here reminds me of the places I learned to roleplay, and what made me love to roleplay. It's the nice little place where you can kick back, grab a drink, and absorb the atmosphere and people watch if you want, or stretch your abilities if you want. An immersive roleplayer may not find what they're looking for here, but this is a great example of a different and more casual type of roleplay that many people enjoy.
